ANIMALS COME FIRST
We have been running our small sanctuary for eight years, we have taken in a
variety of small animals from hedgehogs to rabbits. We also trap feral
cats that are injured or need neutering or spaying, once they are ready to be
released they are returned to their colonies. We deal with domestic
animals, farm animals and wildlife.
Our sanctuary also takes in animals rescued by other wildlife organisations,
animal welfare groups and individuals. In the event of recovery, new homes
are found where possible and wild animals are released back into their natural
habitats. There will be occassions when our animals cannot be re-homed or
released because of severe trauma or injury, in these cases they will be cared
for at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives.
There is always a large number of kittens and puppies who are abandoned because
their owners do not have their pets neutered or spayed. This is a major
problem as the over population of animals is causing even large organisations
like the RSPCA to have problems coping with the amount of animals needing care
and re-homing. We will be working with other groups in the aquisition of
funds for the neutering and spaying of cats and dogs.
Any donations are gratefully received.
We will be working closely with the following:
- Cat Protection League
- RSPCA
- Hedgehog Society and Centres
- Other animal welfare and rescue organisations (Wild and Domestic)
ACQUIRING FUNDS NATIONALLY
- We will be assisting small sanctuaries in the UK that do not get enough exposure
and require funding for their projects or general needs. These small
centres and sanctuaries can have difficulty in remaining open because of a lack
of funding.
- We will also help to fund emergency services that deal with animal welfare and
rescue, which are very few and therefore desperately require funding.
INTERNATIONAL FUNDING
- We will be Funding Organizations and Centres operating abroad who need help to
keep Centres and Sanctuaries open. They are in desperate need of funding for all
their medical equipment, medication, food and the building of shelters. For
example there is an orangutan sanctuary in the rain forest which is run by a
small group which depends solely on funds raised to keep them going. Many
of the mothers are killed and the babies orphaned, taken out of the wild and
used for the tourism and pet trade. The sanctuary takes care of the babies
as well as adults that are captured and traumatised. They are taught how
to survive in the wild and when they are ready to fend for themselves, released
into safe havens. These areas are monitored at all times, and they can
live a normal life instead of one in captivity.
- Natural habitats are also a very important aspect of animal welfare and
protection which we will be providing funding for. The rain forests and
other habitats are continually being destroyed, it is done with such speed that
if it is not stopped or controlled many habitats will disappear in a very short
space of time.
- We will also support organization's who are involved in the prevention of animals being used cruelly
or unnecessarily for entertainment in the tourist trade, pet trade
or research and to fund those organizations that are trying to stop the poaching
of animals.
- Animals
killed and farmed for the fur trade, the suffering and painful killing for fur and oil has to be addressed and funded.
- The hunting of elephants and Rhinos, killed for ivory.
- Factory farming: The animals are confined in small spaces so that they cannot groom themselves
or lie down, they are left in their own manure. They are packed like
sardines, and in the event of one of these poor animals fallingthey are trampled
to death. It is all profit driven with the view of animals as units of
production rather than being living creatures and the suffering of these animals
is never questioned. It is important that this is brought to the attention of
the public and the authorities. If not, nothing will be done to relieve the
pain, stress, stress and fear that these animals go through, who give their lives to us so we may eat.
Surely for this reason alone, they should be treated with loving care and
kindness.
ANIMALS WE WILL BE SUPPORTING
- All Domestic Animals including rabbits, rats guinea pigs, hamster etc.
- All wildlife, farm animals, seal pups, whales, dolphins, large cats, elephants,
rhinoceros, gorillas, bears, orangutans and other monkey species.
- However we regret that we cannot take in any birds as that is a specialized
area, and we do not have the experience to deal with it.
- Any
Other organization with animals different from those mentioned above will be
assisted if required. Our
Organization will help to fund any animal in distress or assist in the funding of a
Centre/Shelter that requires money to assist with the welfare and protection of animals.
